Commands you will use after joining
Learn !join, !vote, !match, !ip, and !xx first. Look up the rest on the commands page.
How to type a command
In chat, !xxx and /xxx are usually the same SourceMod command. To bind a key, use the console: bind F6 "say !vote". If nothing happens, check that the console is on and the IME is not eating the key.
There is exactly one difference between ! and /: a line starting with ! also shows up in public chat, a line starting with / does not. Use / to open a menu quietly, use ! when you want teammates to see what you are doing. In the console the prefix is sm_ — sm_vote is the same as !vote in chat.
Use these first after you join
- !join:Join survivors. Step out with !away or !spec. Do not hold a slot while AFK.
- !vote:The general menu. Open this if you do not know what to type.
- !match / !rmatch:Change gameplay. Unload first if a match is already loaded.
- !mapvote:Change map, including custom maps.
- !ip / !web:See other servers in the group, or open the website. The in-game browser is more stable on the lite pages.
- !xx / !x:See the current Anne mode and SI spawn settings.
These are common too
- !rank / !top10:Check points. Treat the number as a glance, not a reason to wreck the team’s pace.
- !rpg / !buy:Shop or supply menu, if the current mode has it on.
- !inf:Only in Versus or training rooms that allow an infected team.
- !block / !unblock:Block or unblock a player.
The full index is on the commands page and stays in sync with the GitHub docs and local cache. This page only covers what you need the day you join.
Key binds: worth two minutes
When an AnneHappy round gets busy there is no time to type. Binding the two or three commands you use most is far faster than opening the chat box every time. Enter these in the console one line at a time:
| Bind | function |
|---|---|
| bind F6 "say !vote" | Open the vote menu with one key |
| bind F7 "say !join" | Take a survivor slot with one key after respawning |
| bind F8 "say !xx" | Check the config when entering an unfamiliar room |
| bind F9 "say !ip" | Check open slots on servers in the same group |
Note the quotes must be plain ASCII ones — full-width quotes will not bind. Binds only last for the current session by default; put them in a cfg file to keep them. Press the key once to confirm it works instead of finding out mid-fight that it never bound.
The two usual reasons a key does nothing: an IME swallowed the keystroke (switch back to English and retry), or the game already uses that key. Picking an unused function key usually fixes it.
A few more console commands worth knowing
These are not SourceMod commands but built into the game. They come in handy for troubleshooting and for writing reports.
| Command | function |
|---|---|
| status | Lists everyone's name and SteamID; the first line is the current map |
| net_graph 1 | Shows latency, packet loss and frame rate in the corner — essential for troubleshooting |
| net_graph 0 | Turns it off |
| disconnect | Disconnects cleanly — better than Alt+F4 |
| connect address:port | Connects to a server directly |
| record name | Starts recording a DEM — useful when writing a report |
| stop | Stops recording |
If you want a round on file as evidence, type record as soon as you join — deciding afterwards is too late. The demo file lands in the game folder; upload it with the surrounding context when you file the report.
The command does nothing
- You used the console form:!vote in chat is sm_vote in the console, and the reverse also holds — typing !vote in the console does nothing.
- This mode does not have it:Commands like !rpg and !inf only exist in certain configs. Run !xx to see which one is loaded.
- Not enough permission:Admin commands return nothing when a regular player types them. The commands page lists the permission each one needs.
- You just used it and it is on cooldown:All vote commands have a cooldown to prevent spam.
- You mistyped it:There are many aliases, but they are not arbitrary. When in doubt, type !vote and click from the menu.
